SALFORD IS SOUND

Manchester gets all the attention, but all the talent comes to Salford.
This year sees a retrospective to celebrate ten years of SOUP COLLECTIVE and the world premiere of DIRTY OLD TOWN, a specially-commissioned multimedia piece built around the work of Ewan MacColl. Broadcaster and author STUART MACONIE will be introducing a screening of Tony Palmer's classic Granada TV "This England" documentary on WIGAN CASINO and MADE IN SHEFFIELD, Eve Wood's acclaimed study of the steel town's unique musical culture. We'll also have a preview screening of Eve's follow-up film, THE BEAT IS THE LAW, Douglas Arrowsmith's lyrical portrait of Stephen Duffy, MEMORY AND DESIRE, and to celebrate the publication of his book MANCHESTER: LOOKING FOR THE LIGHT THROUGH THE POURING RAIN, a selection of the film work of legendary photographer Kevin Cummins.
